The 2010 Chevy Equinox showed its new face alongside the 2010 Cadillac SRX in Detroit today, and it was a tossup as to which looked better. Inside, a new dual cockpit setup looks very similar to the one in the larger Traverse. As expected of any new model these days, the full array of USB audio, Bluetooth and DVD entertainment systems are also now available.The 2010 Chevy Equinox appears to share its body-side stampings, wheelbase, and certain other key elements with the Cadillac.. Front and rear seat occupants may find themselves looking for more space and more comfort when it comes to the seats. Wide-opening rear doors allow plenty of space for rear passengers to climb in and a large cargo area can hold more than the other two crossovers on this list. Front-seat passengers are treated to ample head and leg room. Seats are supportive and comfortable – surprisingly so, as some competitors have seats that seem to be a bit budget grade.
The 2010 Chevy Equinox is offered in LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ trim levels, each with front-wheel drive (2WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The 2010 Equinox is equipped with a 2.4 liter direct injection Ecotec engine that delivers 182 hp at 6700 rpm and torque of 172 lb ft at 4900 rpm. The other engine offered as optional is a 3.4 liter V6 model that delivers 210 lb ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is used exclusively. For those worried about fuel economy you should know that the base model new Chevrolet Equinox gets 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon when cruising on the highway. And with 32 mpg highway and up to 600 highway miles between fill-ups, the 2010 Equinox also has the best fuel economy of any non-GM crossover.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning, an AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 player with an auxiliary input jack, cruise control, power windows/locks/mirrors, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. A rear-seat entertainment system, a navigation system, leather seating, heated seats, Bluetooth, steering-wheel audio/phone controls, a sunroof, a rearview camera, and remote start are options. Standard features include a four-way driver’s seat, a Multi-Flex sliding rear seat with 8-inches of travel, plus a 60/40 split fold-down. A premium cabin highlights chrome accents, ambient lighting and easy to understand gauges and switches.
Standard safety features on the new Equinox includes four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, six airbags, Stabilitrak stability control with traction control, tire pressure monitoring system and, of course, GM’s OnStar system with automatic crash response and stolen vehicle assistance.
The Chevy Equinox reviews mentioned the Chevy Equinox price according to trim level. The LS trim level is US$25.995, the 1LT is US$27.725 and the 2LT is US$30.110, and the LTZ is US$33,460.
