The first Kia Sorrento was initially a landmark vehicle that took the Korean brand into a full new part of the automotive market all around the world. Released in 2002, it marked a big step for Kia auto, challenging many established 4×4 and SUV brands and starting the process of switching public perception of Kia as the ‘maker of tiny cars.’
Kia Sorento earned widespread mass media plus public acclaim for its interesting styling, durability, off-road abilities and worth for money. During the subsequent seven years, it seduced thousands of customers who had not previously considered purchasing a Kia, and obtained global sales 900,000 units. It also paved the way for the successful debute of the smaller Kia Sportage.
Longer and lower, the Kia 2010 Sorento brings sleek styling and also a futuristic touch to the world of the urban CUV. With its longer front overhang, wedge profile, crisply described greenhouse and highlighted wheelarch volumes, Kia’s new CUV looks thoroughly modern and stylish. The 4.7-metre long new Sorento moves auto design in this segment up to a new level of sophistication.
The 2010 Kiasorento’s interior styling echoes the sense of power and dynamism created by the outside appearance. Kia is confident that existing Sorento owners and new customers will be equally impressed by the cabin’s generous proportions, sweeping dashboard style, premium fit, discreet trim accents and the availability of various high-tech features.
Kia Sorento 2010 is a midsize SUV for sale in base, lx and ex trim levels. 3-liter v6 powers the primary two, and it creates 242 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque. 8-liter v6 excellent for 262 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are used to a five-speed automatic transmission, while rear-wheel or four-wheel drive (with low-range gearing) is available. The base trim includes air-conditioning, full power accessories, a cd/mp3 audio system, multiple power points and 60/40-split flip-and-fold rear seats. The lx adds keyless entry and cruise control, while the Ex ups the ante with an improved cabin, the bigger v6 engine and a power driver seat.
All models of Kia Sorrento have side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes and stability control. Lx sport package models offer improved interior cloth or leather, special exterior trim and 17-in. wheels and tires. The Ex trim line includes a sunroof, heated power mirrors, foglights, a power driver seat, a trip computer and 16-in. alloy wheels. The top-line Ex luxury package adds leather seating, dual-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats. Whereas the model’s cabin could have once been sleek and fashionable, it is showing shades of gray at the temples in terms of design. But, it still offers an abundance of space for storage. The front seats are well-shaped and provide great comfort even upon long trips, thanks in part to a plethora of available seat adjustments.
